Scots Compete at Kenyon College Invitational

Michael Crookshanks

Sophomore Emma Fikse was just above her school-record time in the 200 freestyle to lead The College of Wooster's contingent at the non-scoring Kenyon College Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Gambier, Ohio.

Fikse touched at 1:52.70 in one of her signature events, just below the 1:52.86 NCAA Div. III "B" cut, and just under a second off of her school-record time of 1:51.89 set as the leadoff leg of last week's fourth-place 800 freestyle relay at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.

On the men's side sophomore Michael Crookshanks led the way with his 1:45.40 in the 200 freestyle relay, rating as the 10th-fatest time in the event in the program annals. Coincidentally, Crookshanks placed 10th at the meet.

First-year Trey Schopen, who has a "B" cut time in the 200 butterfly from last week's NCAC Championships, took to the water in the 50 freestyle where he clocked in a 22.49 to pair with a 17:02.43 in the 1650 freestyle.

Other notable performances at the meet included sophomore Griffin Campbell and Alison Hsu, who both had times near top-10 marks in program history. Campbell turned in a 53.30 in the 100 butterfly, while Hsu touched at 25.49 in the 50 freestyle.
