For the first time since 2014, The College of Wooster will have a representative at the NCAA Div. III Swimming and Diving Championships, as senior Cameron Gelwicks made the cut, an NCAA committee announced on Wednesday. The 2019 national meet will take place March 20-23 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in North Carolina.

"We are very excited for Cameron," said head coach Rob Harrington. "This is a tremendous accomplishment that he has worked very hard for. I can't think of anyone more deserving of this honor."

Gelwicks, who qualified by virtue of his NCAA Div. III "B" cut as the leadoff leg of Wooster's All-North Coast Athletic Conference 800 freestyle relay, will compete in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyles. He's seeded 15th in the 200 freestyle (1:39.19), 45th in the 100 freestyle (46.36), and 56th in the 50 freestyle (22.39).

Gelwicks' time in the 200 freestyle is a school record, and he also holds the current program bests in the 500 freestyle (4:34.98) and as part of the 400 (3:03.21) and 800 (6:49.56) freestyle relays.

Gelwicks is set to swim on Wednesday (50 freestyle), Thursday (200 freestyle), and Saturday (100 freestyle).
