Women Place Second, Men Third as Wooster Invitational Concludes

The Wooster Invitational wrapped up on Saturday with The College of Wooster women's swimming and diving team finishing second and the men third.

Case Western Reserve University swept the meet scoring 2,091 points on the women's side and 2,561 on the men's side. For comparison, the Wooster women scored 1,539.5 points and the men scored 1,163 points.

A pair of school records was set as junior Brooke Brown won the 100 IM and broke her own record in the process with a time of 1:01.48.

Wooster had three others in the top eight of the race including Lexi Riley-DiPaolo (4th, 1:02.87), Megan Gross (5th, 1:04.94) and Heidi Likins (7th, 1:05.39). Riley-DiPaolo's prelim time of 1:02.86 became the third fastest 100 IM time.

Sophomore Molly Likins broke the 200 breaststroke program record with a NCAA Division III "B" Cut time of 2:21.27 which placed her second in the race. The prior record was 2:21.92 set by Jenny Bayuk in 2002.

Following Likins in third in the 200 breaststroke was junior Madison Whitman with a time of 2:26.59.

In the 200 back, Hannah Langer (2:11.39) and Kate Murphy (2:11.98) finished seventh and eighth, respectively. Anne Bowers finished second in the 200 fly (2:12.95) while first-year Kay Wetmore came in fourth (2:15.46).

Nell Kacmarek swam a 18:02.13 on her way to a third place finish in the 1650 free.

Riley-DiPaolo finished eighth in the 100 free (54.88). The 400 free relay team of Likins, Brown, Avery Pearson and Riley-DiPaolo placed fourth (3:38.71).

For the men, Josh Gluck finished third in the 200 back with a time of 1:52.07, which is the new second fastest time in program history. He improved upon his prelim time of 1:52.49.

Craig Klumpp finished sixth in the 200 breast with a time of 2:08.96 which outdid his previous best this year at 2:09.74. It is the second fastest time in the program record book.

The 400 free relay team of Doak Schultz, Wyatt Foss, Gluck and Trey Schopen finished fifth (3:10.60).

Schultz also raced to third in the 100 IM (53.91) and eighth in the 1650 free with a time of 17:17.41. Schopen was second in the 200 fly (1:52.45)

Sophomore Wylie Greeson finished seventh in the 100 IM (56.01). His prelim time of 55.13 was the third fastest time in program history.

In the diving well, sophomore Eric Jacques was the runner-up on the one-meter board with 395.75 points.

The Scots won't be in action again until Jan. 11 when they host Oberlin College and Wittenberg University.
