Men and Women Take Tri-Meet Over Wittenberg and Oberlin

The College of Wooster men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated Oberlin College and Wittenberg University in a tri-meet at Timken Natatorium on Saturday.

The men defeated Wittenberg 198-66 and the Yeomen 169-102. The women won over the Tigers 200-61 and defeated the Yeowomen 224-62 to take their dual meet streak to 21 wins.

Both the men and the women took the top spots in the 200 medley and the 400 free relays.

Hannah Langer, Molly Likins, Heidi Likins, and Brooke Brown swam a 1:53.14 in the 200 while, Brown and Molly Likins teamed with Lexi Riley-DiPaolo and Mia Chen to win the 400 in 3:52.83.

Josh Gluck, Noah Golovan, Trey Schopen and Wyatt Foss won the 200 in 1:40.79, while Wylie Greeson joined the Gluck, Schopen and Foss trio to win the 400 relay in 3:22.23. 

The teams also shared wins in the 1-meter diving portion. Nicholas Rabaut won unopposed with a final score of 185.55. Lucie Redmann scored a 185.65 to hold off two Oberlin divers.

Focusing on the women first, Madison Whitman won a trio of events including the 1000 free in 11:39.68, finishing just a second apart from second place. She also won the 500 free in 5:38.72 with a bit more distance between second place, which was teammate Sara Fikse who swam a 5:53.92.

Whitman also claimed a win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:18.89.

In the 200 free Nell Kacmarek won in 2:03.02 while Kay Wetmore came second in 2:04.68.

Langer and Chen finished first and second, respectively, in the 100 back. Langer finished in 1:02.86, and Chen recorded a time of 1:03.27.

Likins won in the 100 breast in 1:07.85 and the 200 breast in 2:28.52. Anne Bowers won the 50 free in 26.13, and Kate Murphy swam a 2:16.54 to place first in the 200 back.

For additional winners on the men's side, Gluck won the 200 free in 1:50.75, and Schopen placed first in the 100 fly in 53.59.

Eli Samuelson led in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.23 with Greeson right behind in second at 58.37. Samuelson also won the 200 back in 2:04.01 with another teammate right behind him in second place in Hunter Pierson (2:05.13).

The teams have their final home meet of the season next weekend when they host Ohio Wesleyan University and Allegheny College.
