Scots Split with Purple Raiders

Maddie Becker ALLIANCE, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's swimming & diving team defeated Mount Union 156-119 on Friday, while the men fell short in a 199-99 loss.

To start the night, Maddie BeckerMolly LikinsOllie Bream and Emma Connors needed every second to win the 200 yard medley relay as their 1:54.34 time was just .05 seconds better than second place.

The 400 yard free relay team created a little more distance in its win - .81 seconds to be exact. Their time of 3:47.92 was good enough for the win for the team of Hallie Findlan, Mia Chen, Likins and Connors.

Findlan, last week's North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week, kept her pace strong with wins in the 200 free (1:59.03) and the 100 free (54.24).

Likins cleared the 50 breast in 31.76 to claim first. She also won the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.72.

Bream won the 100 fly in 1:01.70 and the 50 fly in 27.73. She also took the 200 IM in 2:18.57.

Connors would take the 1000 free in 11:09.20 and the 500 free in 5:26.15.

Becker won the 50 free in 26.02, outlasting her opponent in second place by just .01. However, Becker was .70 seconds short of finishing first in the 50 back.

On the men's side, sophomore Josh Pearson won the 500 free in 5:00.45 for the men's lone win. He was .06 seconds shy of finishing first in the 200 free.

Junior Noah Golovan was a second shy in the 50 breast to take second (28.44). He also finished second in the 100 breast (1:02.75).

First-year Tucker Andrewjeski was second in the 200 IM (2:03.93) and the 1000 free (10:20.47).

First-year Ryan Gross took second in the 50 free (22.52) and the 100 free (49.79). Classmate Justin DuBois was second in the 50 fly (25.30).

In diving, senior Eric Jacques was second in the 3 meter with a score of 232.60 and third in the 1 meter at 151.90.

Wooster will be back in the pool Dec. 2 when it hosts the Wooster Invitational at the Ellen Shapiro Natatorium.
