Senior Salute: Emma Bossaert

Emma Bossaert Q&A Throughout the spring semester, we are honoring our senior student-athletes with a "Senior Salute" series. Today's featured senior is Emma Bossaert, a biology major from North Caldwell, New Jersey. Bossaert is a member of the swimming and diving team.

Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I chose to attend the College because I made a good connection with the swimming and diving team. I was intrigued by the Independent Study project and the stellar STEM program.

Q: What does it mean to you to be a Fighting Scot student-athlete?
A: It means to be a part of something where everyone is there because they love the sport.

Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: My favorite memories are spending time with friends on and off campus.

Q: What's the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: The best part about being a student-athlete at Wooster is having an automatic group of friends all four years.  

Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I'm a health coach through a partnership with Wooster Community Hospital and am part of the First Responders Club.

Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Dr. Bhakti Mamtora had the greatest impact on me because she opened my eyes to how big our world is and how important self-care is when taking her course History of Yoga.

Q: Which other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people/resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: The pre-health advisor at APEX (Wooster's center for Advising, Planning, and Experiential Learning) impacted my Wooster experience in a positive way by advising me to take the proper classes to apply to physician associate school. The advisor also informed me which classes were best to take each semester to finish my major and the pre-requisites for PA school.

Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: My Independent Study project is about the effect of manuka honey and bacteriophages on the eradication of a cell's biofilm.

Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: Last summer I went to Kenya to shadow in a hospital for a month with fellow pre-medical students.

Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what is one piece of advice you would give your first year (freshman) self?
A: Always ask questions and use the resources Wooster has to better your education and future.
