Senior Salute - Noah Golovan

Noah Golovan Q&A Throughout the spring semester, we are honoring our senior student-athletes with a "Senior Salute" series. Today's featured senior is Noah Golovan, a political science and philosophy major from Hunting Valley, Ohio. Golovan is a member of the swimming & diving team. 

Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster? 
A: Ultimately, it was because of the community, both the swim team and the greater Wooster community. I really appreciate the collaborative environment, and this team is the most supportive, motivated, and passionate group I have ever been a part of. 

Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you? 
A: It means being able to continue the sport I love in a great community while pursuing other interests and passions. It means I have the resources to be successful both in the pool and the classroom. 

Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster? 
A: Some of my favorite memories include North Coast Athletic Conference championship meets with the team, winter training trips in Florida, and celebrating I.S. Mondaywith seniors. 

Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster? 
A: The best part is the community you join. Some of my closest friends come from the swim team. I will forever be grateful for the things the team has given me. 

Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport? 
A: I am the president of Scot Council(student government), I am an admissions senior intern, and I was a member of the Presidential Search Committee. 

Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why? 
A: April Gamblein Admissions. I have not known her very long, but her selflessness and kindness is infectious and admirable. 

Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster? 
A: My coaches, Rob Harrington and Kyle Garase, for setting me up for success in the pool and giving me opportunities to help impact the team I love. 

Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project? 
A: I am doing a content analysis of Fox and CNN news coverage of the January 6 insurrection as well as ethically critiquing the events that transpired during that day and the coverage surrounding it. 

Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster? 
A: Going to Florida for a little over a week to train outdoors in the sun during winter break is one of my favorite things the team does. It is one of the best team bonding experiences and it is really nice to get out of cold weather and have a change in scenery for a little while. 

Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self? 
A: I would tell my first-year self to take it all in and enjoy the moment, because it goes fast
