Senior Salute - Min Kim

Min Kim Q&A Throughout the spring semester, we are honoring our senior student-athletes with a "Senior Salute" series. Today's featured senior is Min Kim, a psychology major from Wooster, Ohio. Kim is a member of the swimming and diving team. 

Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster? 
A: I chose Wooster because of the tight-knit community and the ability to balance academics and athletics.  

Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you? 
A: It means being supportive of your teammates and being there for them during their toughest and happiest times. 

Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?  
A: My favorite memories as a student include swimming with my teammates and spending quality time with friends. 

Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster? 
A: The best part is being able to support my fellow student-athletes. 

Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport? 
A: I am in the Pre-Health and Psychology Clubs, am in Pi Kappa, and I am a peer health educator. 

Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why? 
A: Rachel Davidbecause she always shows support and validates my feelings as a student-athlete of color.  

Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster? 
A: Dr. (Susan) Clayton, my lovely Independent Studyadvisor. She has always shown support towards my passion for sports and my I.S. topic. 

Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project? 
A: My I.S. aims to examine the stressors that affect the mental health of NCAA Div. III student-athletes at The College of Wooster. Specifically, this study aims to understand what stressors athletes of color experience the most that impacts their mindset and results during competition.  

Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster? 
A: I am a health equity intern. I create awareness trainings that educate others on the root causes of health disparities. 

Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self? 
A: Think before you act, actively listen, branch out, and always validate one's feelings.
