Becker Lowers Record at Kenyon Fast Chance Meet

Maddie Becker, Wooster Swimming GAMBIER, Ohio – Select College of Wooster swimmers competed at Kenyon College's Fast Chance Meet on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Maddie Becker led Wooster's entries, lowering her 100 individual medley school record to 59.25. Becker entered the year as the first Scot to come in under a minute in the event, and she is now one of two in program history to hold a sub-minute time. Senior Doak Schultz clocked a 20.98 in the first 50 yards of a 100 freestyle event. That marked a personal best for Schultz, who now has the fourth-fastest 50 freestyle time in program history, and his time was the best by a Fighting Scot since 2009.

Sophomore Ollie Bream and junior Josh Pearson attempted to lower their 200 butterfly NCAA Div. III "B" cuts at the meet. Bream came up shy of that, going 2:06.15, which was close to her 2:05.18 from the midseason Wooster Invitational. Bream entered the week with the 25th-fastest time in Div. III this season. Pearson lowered his school record to 1:49.65 at last week's North Coast Athletic Conference Championships and was near that time with a 1:50.54 on Saturday. Pearson ranks 24th in Div. III.

Bream and Pearson are now in wait-and-see mode to see if they will qualify for the NCAA Div. III Championships.
