Ollie Bream, Josh Pearson Wooster Swimming CSCAA Scholar All-America Release

The College of Wooster's Ollie Bream and Josh Pearson were among the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association Scholar All-America honorees, which were announced recently by the coaching organization. The Fighting Scots' standouts were second-team selections.

Bream's NCAA Div. III "B" cut came in her signature event, the 200 butterfly, where she went 2:05.14 to win the event at the Wooster Invitational. The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honoree and member of the North Coast Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll helped the Scots to a trio of top-four relays at Div. III's preeminent conference championship. Individually, Bream's 2:06.55 in the 200 butterfly ranked sixth in the NCAC and she had the eighth-place time of 4:33.78 in the 400 individual medley at conference.

Pearson, who helped lead Wooster to its first top-three NCAC finish since 2003, lowered his 200 butterfly school record time to 1:49.65 at the NCAC Championships, which ranked fifth in the field and was a NCAA Div. III "B" cut time. Pearson was a member of Wooster's fourth-place 800 freestyle relay, fifth-place 200 medley relay, fifth-place 400 medley relay, and sixth-place 400 freestyle relay at the conference meet. The CSC Academic All-District® and two-time NCAC Academic Honor Roll qualifier qualified for the 200 and 400 individual medley championship finals at the NCAC Championships.

First-team CSCAA Scholar All-America distinction is awarded to student-athletes who have a minimum 3.50 GPA and compete in their respective national championship. Second-team qualifiers must have at least a 3.50 GPA and have achieved a "B" cut time or participated in a diving zone qualification meet.
