Bream, Glover Capture Wins on Day One of Wooster Invite
Men and women both sit in second after Thursday results
Through day one of the Wooster Invitational, The College of Wooster men's and women's swimming and diving teams are in second place, highlighted by an individual win on both sides.
The women are second of nine teams with 417 points, trailing PennWest University of Edinboro's 456.5 points. The men have 433 points, trailing Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's 452 points.
After topping the field in the prelims, senior Ollie Bream stayed true and gave the women a win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.01.
Meanwhile, junior Callum Glover did the same in the men's 50 yard freestyle, taking the prelims at 21.47 and later the finals at 21.35.
The women were also highlighted by several third and fourth place finishes.
They placed third in the 400 yard medley relay at 4:02.82 behind the team of Hallie Findlan, Izzy Bellefleur, Elizabeth Theobald and Bream.
The 200 free relay team also placed third (1:40.18) behind the efforts of Findlan, JP Timken, Charlotte Helm and Keara Wiley.
Theobald followed Bream for third (2:12.95) in the 200 IM.
Timken was fourth in the 500 free (5:15.00), and Findlan was fourth in the 50 free (24.44).
For the men, senior Tucker Andrewjeski finished fourth at 1:55.29 in the 200 IM. It was a new personal best for Andrewjeski who moves from seventh to fifth in the event in Wooster history.
Boston Sullivan was right behind in fifth (1:56.36).
The men placed fifth in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:29.79. The team comprised of Will Laymon, Sullivan, Ethan Neuner and Glover.
In the prelims, Wooster claimed the top two spots in the 200 free relay with times of 1:28.38 and 1:29.11.
Later, Wooster placed as high as fourth in the 200 free relay finals (1:26.25) behind Glover, Neuner, Sullivan and Laubacher.
In addition, Laubacher was third in the 500 free at 4:46.28. In the prelims, he swam a 4:44.96, which was .08 seconds off from his best time from early 2024.
The second of day of the invite will start at 10 a.m. Friday with prelims. Diving will start at 2 p.m. in Timken Natatorium and the finals will once again kick off at 6 p.m.
