Scots Sweep Ohio Northern
Wooster readies for NCAC Championships
The College of Wooster men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept Ohio Northern University at Timken Natatorium on Saturday.
The women won 199.5-95.5, and the men took a 147-133 victory.
For the women, relay swimmers got it done as a team and individually.
The 200 medley relay team won with a time of 1:55.01 behind Hallie Findlan, Izzy Bellefleur, Elizabeth Theobald and Ollie Bream.
The 200 free team also took a win to close the meet. Findlan, Keara Wiley, Patricia Chen and JP Timken won in 1:44.72.
In individual events, Bream was a three-time winner, taking the 200 free (1:59.61), the 100 fly (59.96) and the 200 IM (2:16.14).
Findlan won the 100 back in 1:02.60 and the 100 free in 54.84. Bellefleur was also a dual winner, winning the 100 breast in 1:11.80 and the 200 breast in 2:34.29.
The women dominated the 1000 free, taking the top three spots. In the lead, however, was Timken who swam the fastest time of 11:09.92.
Also, Theobald won the 200 fly in 2:19.61.
Elsewhere, Emma Humbert took first in the 200 back (2:18.91), and Rachel Frank won the 500 in 5:33.47.
In diving, Cady Eakins scored 163.65 for second in the 1-meter and 151.75 for second in the 3-meter.
On the men's side, the men's 200 medley relay team opened in second at 1:38.29, just .26 shy of first. That team consisted of Will Laymon, Boston Sullivan, Ethan Neuner and Callum Glover.
Laymon was a dual winner, taking the 100 back in 54.14 as well as the 200 back in 2:03.00.
Isaac Shaker swam a 1:58.66 to take first in the 200 fly and won the 200 IM in 2:01.45.
Sullivan was victorious in the 100 breast (59.60), and Philipp Drappatz swam a 10:28.11 to place first in the 1000 free. Tucker Andrewjeski won the 200 breast (2:11.84).
In the men's 1 meter, Chris Caldwell won unopposed with a score of 190.80. He did the same in the 3 meter, scoring 153 points.
Next, the Scots will prepare for the first day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships when it starts Feb. 12.
