Freshman High Jumper Breaks Women's School Record at NCAC Relays

<a href= All nine schools in the North Coast Athletic Conference met Saturday to compete in the NCAC Relays at Granville, Ohio, where The College of Wooster men's indoor track and field team took fifth place, the women claimed sixth, and one individual broke a school record.

In just her second collegiate meet, freshman jumper Abena Boamah-Acheampong broke Wooster's all-time record in the high jump by clearing 5 feet 3 inches, which was one inch higher than both Dana Doran-Myers (2004) and Holly Halterman's (1985) previous record jumps. Her jump was just one notch of the bar below the NCAA provisional mark of 5 feet 4 inches.

Also recording a solid score was was Miriam Wise, who totaled 31 feet 6 inches in the triple jump, and placed fifth overall in a field of 11. The women earned 44 total points in the event, just four less than fifth-place Allegheny College, while Ohio Wesleyan University scored 107 points and ran away with team title.

The men's side was also won by Ohio Wesleyan with its 104 points, but Wooster's men earned a respectable fifth-place finish, with several individuals posting solid outings.

Seniors Eric Dyer and Ramses Clements teamed up to take second place in the triple jump relay by earning second and fifth place individual scores, respectively. Dyer totaled 42 feet 9 inches, while Clements recorded 40 feet 2 inches, and the duo picked up four points towards Wooster's team total.

Bryan Albani scored third place in the 55 meter hurdles by finishing in 7.97 seconds, and Josh Kline nabbed third as well in the shot put, where he recorded a 46 feet 7 inch toss that topped 17 other challengers.

The Scots will head to Otterbein College to take part in the Otterbein Invitational next Friday at 5:45 p.m.
