Abena Boamah-Acheampong's second-place showing in the women's high jump highlighted The College of Wooster's outcomes Saturday during the All-Ohio Championships at Gambier, Ohio, where a select few Fighting Scot athletes qualified to participate against some the best Div. III athletes in the state.

Competing in a field of 16, Boamah-Acheampong tied for second-place (5 feet, 3.5 inch) in her signature event, which was her best showing of 2011, and neared the school-record (5 feet, 4.5 inch) that she set a season ago. Also noteworthy, women's runners Erin Plews-Ogan, Taylor Morgan, Kelsie Herring, and Meredith Shaul set a new school record in the distance medley relay (12:50.11), besting the existing record by over three seconds (12:53.41). They finished the race sixth of 11.

The men's lone effort came in the distance relay, where the team of Micah Caunter, Benjamin Althaus, Luke Hutchings-Goetz, and Kevin DeGroot crossed the finish line eighth (10:46.75).

The entire team will take part in a more traditional meet next Saturday when they return to Gambier, Ohio for the Kenyon Classic.
