The College of Wooster men's and women's track and field teams had several individual winners at the Kenyon Classic on Saturday, which included athletes from host Kenyon College and Denison University.

The women notched victories in a number of events, with distance runners Sarah Appleton and Kelsie Herring winning the 5000 meter run (19:38.29) and 800 meter run (2:28.32), respectively. Also noteworthy, Veronique Jones won the shot put (33 feet, 4.5 inch), and high jumper Abena Boamah-Acheampong tied for the top honors (5 feet, 1 inch) in her signature event.

Others turning in solid times included sprinter Stephanie McShane, who placed second in both the 55 meter dash (7.82) and 200 meter dash (27.88), and Meredith Shaul, who took third in the one mile run (5:21.62), which bested 13 other runners.

On the men's side, Ethan Deselem was victorious among a field of 12 in the 200 meter dash (23.79). Josh Kime led Wooster's throwing efforts with a first-place finish in the shot put (44 feet, 11.75 inch), and long jumper Sean Twining was the best in that event, recording an 18 foot, 6.5 inch jump.

Next Friday, Wooster will compete at Denison's Last Chance Meet, which serves as the athlete's final opportunity to qualify for the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. The action starts at 5:45 p.m.
