Boamah-Acheampong was named the NCAC Field Athlete of the Year on the women's side.

Abena Boamah-Acheampong became an individual champion in the high jump and the triple jump, and was then named the North Coast Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Year, highlighting The College of Wooster's weekend at the NCAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Oberlin College. The women finished in fourth-place, not far outside of the top-three, while the men took eighth.

It took an exciting jump off to declare a winner in the high jump event, but Boamah-Acheampong eventually cleared the bar at 5 feet, 5 inches to get by Ohio Wesleyan University's Emily Amburgey and take first-place honors. Then in the triple jump, Boamah-Acheampong won again with an effort of 34 feet, 6.25 inches, which prompted her Field Athlete of the Year award.

The women had several impressive results, including Erin Plews-Ogan in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. After just breaking the school record in the event a few weeks back, Plews-Ogan shattered her old time with an 11:22.59 finish, which earned her fourth-place and was also almost 20 seconds (11:40.20) quicker than her previous best.

Along with Boamah-Acheampong, six other women earned all-conference honors. Whitney Rappole took second-place in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:07.39, which was just narrowly behind the winner (1:07.27).  Also earning second in an event was Katharina Kroll in the javelin throw (114 feet, 9 inches). Stephanie McShane earned her all-conference nod in the 100 meter dash with a third-place finish (12.87), and also took fourth-place in the 200 meter dash (26.63).

Also garnering all-NCAC honors were Miriam Wise with a third-place in the long jump (16 feet, 10 inches), and she also just missed out with a fourth-place effort in the triple jump (33 feet, 10 inches). Meredith Shaul crossed the finish line third in the grueling 10,000 meter run (38:42.90), and Kelsie Herring also nabbed the third spot in the 800 meter run (2:20.28).

Others who helped Wooster's team score included Sarah Appleton with a fifth-place effort in the 10,000 meter run (38:53.64), Veronique Jones with a sixth-place in the discus throw (98 feet, 9 inches) and a seventh-place in the shot put (32 feet, 11.25 inches), Shaul's sixth-place in the 1500 meters (4:57.46), Devin Johns with seventh-place in the javelin throw (88 feet, 11 inches), and Taylor Morgan with eighth-place in the 800 meter run (2:23.64).

Also noteworthy, Jensen Buchanan finished in sixth-place in the women's heptathlon last weekend, which went towards the final scores. Her best showing was in the 800 meter run where she crossed the finish line fourth in 2:45.55.

The men got their best result from Josh Kime, who just missed out on all-NCAC accolades by scoring fourth in the shot put (45 feet, 4.5 inches). Both David Brew and Ethan Deselem took fifth-place in the pole vault (12 feet, 5.25 inches) and 100 meter dash (11.31), respectively.

In the high jump, the men picked up the sixth and seventh best finishes, as Quinton Howard and Sean Twining each cleared 5 feet, 7.75 inches. Kevin DeGroot was seventh in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:56.29), Stephen Ferguson was eighth in the 110 meter hurdles (18.95), and Jay Marshall also secured eight-place in the pole vault (11 feet, 5.25 inches).

In relay action, the men also scored with a sixth-place finish in the 4x100 relay, as Deselem, Howard, Ferguson, and Remington Jackson teamed up for a time of 44.71.

Overall, the women scored 103 points, which was less than 30 points out of a top-three finish. Ohio Wesleyan took the championship on the women's side with 262 points. The men scored 26.5 points, which was good for eighth-place, but was only narrowly behind Kenyon College (29), Wittenberg University (35), and Denison University (35).
