The College of Wooster men's and women's track and field teams combined to win four events and take second-place in six others Saturday at the Kenyon Classic, a non-scoring meet consisting of eight schools, including the Scots' North Coast Athletic Conference foes Denison University, Ohio Wesleyan University, and host Kenyon College.

The men's team was most successful in the running events, highlighted by Sam Swartz winning the 5000 meters in 16:33.06. Micah Caunter also posted an impressive result in the one-mile run, when he took second-place among a field of 20 with a time of 4:31.73.

Also garnering second was Luke Hutchings-Goetz in the 3000 meters in 9:02.85, and the 4x400 meter relay team of Ryan Kish, Caunter, John Lanz, and Stephen Ferguson, who clocked in collectively at 3:37.17.

Finally, the men picked up third-place honors in the 4x200 meter relay, as Ethan Deselem, David Brew, Lanz, and Remington Jackson crossed the finish line in 1:35.35.

On the women's side, the Scots took top honors in a pair of jumping events, including one by impressive freshman Ellen Sandin in the long jump (15 feet, 8.75 inches), who finished nearly a foot ahead of the nearest competitor.

The other jumping victory came courtesy of Abena Boamah-Acheampong in her signature event, as she cleared the bar at 5 feet, 1.75 inches to top seven others. Fellow classmate Kendra Shehy also competed in the high jump and placed third (4 feet, 11.75 inches).

The women were solid in the running events as well, as Kelsie Herring (2:26.86) and Chelsea Denlinger (2:28.00) placed second and third, respectively, in the 800 meters, and Meredith Shaul had a strong second-place showing in the one-mile run (5:15.37).

Also noteworthy, the 4x400 relay team of Taylor Morgan, Denlinger, Lauren Buyan, and Kelsie Herring won their event in 4:18.45, while the 4x200 group consisting of Amy French, Tricia Hall, Kara Johnson, and Stephanie McShane delivered the Scots another second-place showing in 1:51.88. French also competed individually in the 60 meter hurdles and gave a third-place effort in 9.77.
