The College of Wooster's women's track and field team had several impressive results at this weekend's North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, as eight student-athletes nabbed all-conference certificates, including Erin Plews-Ogan, Taylor Morgan, Kelsie Herring, and Meredith Shaul, who won the distance medley by shattering the conference's eight-year-old record in the event.

Overall, the women's team placed fifth in a field of eight with 75 points, which was just 10 points behind third-place Kenyon College (85). Ohio Wesleyan University ran away with the women's championship with 192 points, while Oberlin College (108) was second.

The team of Plews-Ogan, Morgan, Herring, and Shaul, who broke the school record in the distance medley back on Feb. 11 (12:35.51), not only reset their own record at the NCAC's, but also took over the league record which has stood since 2004. The Scots crossed the finish line in 12:31.33, which was more than 10 seconds quicker than the conference's previous mark held by Allegheny College (12:41.52).

Also winning a championship at the NCAC's was Abena Boamah-Acheampong, who triumphed in the high jump by getting past fellow conference standout, Ohio Wesleyan's Emily Amburgey, in a jump-off at 5 feet, 4.5 inches. It marked her second-consecutive year taking the title in her signature event. Also noteworthy, classmate Camille Schwartz tied for third-place with a 4 foot, 11 inch jump, which gave the Scots another all-conference honoree in the high jump.

The Scots garnered one more individual champion, as Ellen Sandin took the top spot in the triple jump (33 feet, 9.5 inches) in her debut at the conference meet. Sandin nearly won the long jump as well, placing second with a distance of 16 feet, 8.75 inches.

Others scoring significant points for Wooster included the 4x200 relay team of Amy French, Tricia Hall, Kara Johnson, and Stephanie McShane, who placed fourth in 1:49.90, which was just two-hundredths of a second off of the school record (1:49.88). French also helped Wooster with her second-place finish in the women's pentathlon last weekend, which is included in this weekend's team score.

Rounding out the Scots' top performances were Shaul, who crossed the finish line fourth in the 5000 meters (18:30.45), Schwartz, who took sixth in the pole vault (9 feet, 8 inches), and the 4x400 relay team consisting of Kendra Shehy, Morgan, Lauren Buyan, and Herring, who nabbed sixth in 4:19.77.

Over on the men's side, Wooster finished eighth out of nine teams with 12.5 points, while host Wabash College (238) and Ohio Wesleyan (172) were first and second, respectively.

Ironically, the men's distance medley team matched the women's feat by breaking the school record in their version of the event, as Micah Caunter, John Lanz, David Brew, and Luke Hutchings-Goetz clocked in at 10:37.20, which surpassed the time of 10:40.47 that was set 15 years ago. Their time was good for fifth-place.

The Scots also got solid performances out of two other relay teams, including in the 4x200 , where Ethan Deselem, Lanz, Brew, and Remington Jackson took sixth in 1:34.47, which was about one second away from the program record. The 4x400 team of Brew, Caunter, Ryan Kish, and Lanz also earned a sixth-place finish in 3:31.43.

Individually, Jay Marshall was sixth in the pole vault (12 feet, 11.75 inches).
