The College of Wooster track & field team kicked off its 2012 outdoor season with the non-scoring Bulls Invitational, hosted by the University of South Florida and featuring primarily NCAA Div. I competition, but the Fighting Scots held their own with a number of impressive individual performances.

Meredith Shaul headlined Wooster's results via a runner-up run in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:58.09, less than two seconds shy of champion Haley Thomas from the University of Northern Iowa (17:56.48). Also in that event, Shaul's teammates Sarah Appleton and Monica Ramstad finished ninth (19:51.21) and 12th (21:08.30), respectively.

The Scots' other top women's results consisted of Jocelyn Lion taking 11th in the triple jump (31 feet, 8.5 inches), Ellen Sandin's 18th-place in the long jump (16 feet, 8.75 inches), and Kelsie Herring, who crossed 19th in the 800 meters (2:21.73).

The men's team was paced by David Brew, who ran to 11th-place in the 800 meters (1:57.79), while Ryan Kish garnered 21st in the 400-meter hurdles (59.44) and Morgan Clark took 22nd in the 5000 (16:18.87).

Wooster is off from competition until its lone outdoor home meet of the year, the Wooster Invitational on March 30.
