The College of Wooster's men's and women's track and field teams each took third-place Saturday at the Bob Kahn Invitational, which featured just a handful of schools, including Div. II institution Edinboro University and host Oberlin College on the men's and women's sides, and additionally, Div. II's Ursuline College joined the women's field.

The men's team had four student-athletes take second-place in individual competition, including sprinter Ethan Deselem, who crossed the finish line in 11.33 in the 100 meter dash, and also took third in the 200 meter dash in 23.13.

Others just missing out on individual championships were Robert Flagg in the long jump (20 feet, 3.75 inches), David Brew in the javelin throw (129 feet, 7.0 inches), and Derrick Marshall in the 5000 meter run (16:35.88).

Also noteworthy, John Lanz (51.50) and Brew (51.99) crossed the finish line third and fourth, respectively, in the 400 meters, Micah Caunter placed fourth in the 800 meters (1:59.28), and the team of Brew, Caunter, Stephen Ferguson, and Lanz went in on third-place honors in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:28.98, which was less than two seconds off the winners' pace.

Two Scot women garnered first-place laurels, as Abena Boamah-Acheampong edged out a field of 10 in the high jump in 5 feet, 4.25 inches, and Katharina Kroll took the javelin throw with a distance of 107 feet, 1.0 inch.

Like Kroll, fellow throwers Mel Sidman and Veronique Jones had success in their respective events as well. Sidman was third in the discus at 97 feet, 5.0 inches, and Jones also placed third in the hammer throw with 108 feet, 1.0 inch. Two other female competitors scored in the top-3, as Ellen Sandin produced a third-place result in the long jump in 17 feet even, and Kendra Shehy was third in the high jump (4 feet, 9.75 inches).

Next, the Scots will head back to Oberlin College for a dual meet Friday at 4:45 p.m.
