The College of Wooster track and field team sent a small group of athletes to compete at the North Coast Athletic Conference Decathlon/Heptathlon this weekend, and both the men and women picked up points towards the conference meet, as David Brew and Jensen Buchanan each placed seventh in their respective competitions. The meet was hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.

Participating in a 10-event decathlon, Brew scored 5,213 points, which was good for seventh-place among the field of 15 student-athletes. Brew put his diverse skill-set on display, as he finished in sixth-place or better in five events, which was highlighted by a first-place showing in the 1,500 meters (4:26.41).

He also placed second in the 400 meters (50.94), and fifth in the pole vault (12 feet, 3.25 inches) and javelin throw (128 feet, 9 inches).

On the women's side, Buchanan nabbed seventh-place in the heptathlon with 3,237 points, which was just three points shy of the sixth-place finisher. Buchanan was consistent, finishing near seventh in most events, however, she did take sixth individually in the high jump (4 feet, 6.75 inches), long jump (14 feet, 8 inches), shot put (24 feet, 2.25 inches), and 800 meters (2:36.46).

Both Brew and Buchanan earned two points apiece, which will count towards Wooster's team scores at this weekend's North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.
