The College of Wooster men's and women's track and field teams had 10 different student-athletes earn All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors during this weekend's NCAC Championships, which concluded early this evening at the Scot Center in Wooster, Ohio. Highlighting the Scots' efforts was Abena Boamah-Acheampong winning the women's high jump, while both the men and women had relay teams set new school records.

The women placed fifth in the team standings with 54 points, which wasn't too far off fourth-place DePauw University (63). Meanwhile, Ohio Wesleyan University took the crown with 195 points, followed by Oberlin College (168) and Denison University (88).

For the third-year in a row, Boamah-Acheampong edged out her rival in the high jump, as she bested Ohio Wesleyan University's Emily Amburgey by clearing the bar at 5 feet, 6 inches, which tied her school record in the event. Right behind them was the Scots' Kendra Shehy, who finished in a three-way tie for third-place with a jump of 4 feet, 11.75 inches, which earned her all-conference honors in the event as well.

Shehy picked up a second all-conference certificate on the track, as she teamed up with Erin Andrews-Sharer, Chelsea Denlinger, and Lauren Buyan to place third in the distance medley in a time of 12:54.56.

The Scots other all-conference performance came last weekend, when Hilary Coady finished third in the pentathlon with a school-record 2,929 points.

Just missing a spot in the top-three was the 4x200 relay team of Amy French, Paris Nahas, Edie Anderson, and Stephanie McShane, whom joined forces for fourth-place in the event. The group broke the school record when they crossed the finish line in 1:47.62, which was over two seconds quicker than the previous best time of 1:49.88 that came in 1998.

Rounding out the women's highlights was last year's champion in the triple jump Ellen Sandin, who took fifth in her signature event this time around (33 feet, 10.75 inches) despite improving her distance, while Boamah-Acheampong nabbed sixth in the same event with 33 feet, 8.75 inches.

Over on the men's side, Wooster wound up in ninth despite some solid performances with 31 points. Wabash College ran away with the championship (220.5), while Ohio Wesleyan (168.5) took second overall.

The men nearly had themselves a championship in the distance medley event, as the team of Kevin DeGroot, John Lanz, Gus Fuguitt, and Luke Hutchings-Goetz came up one-hundredth of a second shy of Allegheny College when they crossed in 10:32.63. The Scots did break a school record in the event, though, as they bested last years' time by almost five seconds (10:37.20) while picking up all-conference honors.

Jay Marshall and Mason Mendenhall just missed out on all-conference certificates in the pole vault, as the Scot duo placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with matching results of 13 feet, 5.25 inches.

Also nearing a top-three finish was Matt Margida, who placed fifth in the shot put and was just about a foot away from all-conference status with his toss of 43 feet, 4.25 inches.

Finally, the 4x400 relay of Ruku Borah, Lanz, Ryan Kish, and David Brew took fifth in 3:32.16, while men's distance standout Luke Hutchings-Goetz crossed the finish line sixth among a field of 25 in the 5000 meters (15:24.51).
