A group from The College of Wooster men's and women's track & field teams kicked off their 2013 outdoor season with an annual training trip to Florida, which included the non-scoring Bulls Invitational, hosted by the University of South Florida in Tampa on March 14-15.

Wooster's student-athletes competed alongside the likes of NCAA Div. I powers Florida State University, the University of Kentucky, Marquette University, the University of Michigan, and Rutgers University, and several of the Fighting Scots faired well.

The highest finish came from Morgan Clark in the men's 5000 meters as he crossed the line in fourth with a 15:47.64 time, followed relatively closely by teammate Derrick Marshall in seventh (16:06.29).

Another top-10 effort was put forth by David Brew. Wooster's versatile performer came in seventh in the 800 meters (1:58.97), while Gus Fuguitt added a solid 11th-place showing in the event (2:00.59).

Also of note on the men's side, Gabe Abud was 14th in the 1500 meters (4:14.62), Ryan Kish 17th in the 400 hurdles (1:01.23), and John Lanz 19th in the 400 meters (51.89).

For the Wooster women, Erin Andrews-Sharer was the highest finisher via an 11th-place in the 5000 meters (19:44.39), two spots ahead of teammate Lauren Buyan (19:57.56).

In other action on the track, Hilary Coady earned 13th in the 400 hurdles (1:05.64) and Erin Plews-Ogan made her 2013 track debut, notching 20th in the 1500 meters (5:02.29). Plews-Ogan is a two-time Academic All-American® and was the Scots' No. 1 cross country runner in the fall, but missed the indoor season due to an injury.

In the field, Veronique Jones and Kendra Shehy led the way for the Scots by coming in 13th in the discus (102 feet, 11 inches) and 14th in the high jump (5 feet, 2.25 inches), respectively.

Wooster will return home soon and then hosts its only competition of the outdoor season, the Wooster Invitational, on March 30.
