The College of Wooster women's track and field team took second-place at its own Wooster Invitational, and highlighting the Fighting Scots' results was Abena Boamah-Acheampong in the high jump, as she reset her own school record and broke a 19-year-old stadium record as well, while the men placed fourth overall Saturday afternoon at John P. Papp Stadium/Carl Munson Track.

The Scot women were up against six other teams, and wound up locked into second-place with 142 points, as Ashland University ran away with the team championship (233), while Ursuline College (94) was a distant third. On the men's side, Wooster scored 77.5 points to finish fourth out of five schools, but third-place Kenyon College (104) and second-place Westminster (Pa.) College (104.5) were not too far ahead, while Ashland was once again a decisive winner with 312 points.

Fresh off a successful indoor season where she competed at the NCAA Div. III Championships, Boamah-Acheampong picked up where she left off with the best jump of her collegiate career, as she cleared the bar at 5 feet, 7.25 inches, which shattered her old program record of 5 feet, 6 inches. It also was the best jump ever at John P. Papp Stadium, surpassing the 5 feet, 6.5-inch jump that Case Western Reserve University's Leslie Kindling had in 1994.

Also winning an individual championship in an event was Hilary Coady in the 400 meter hurdles (1:07.57), who was nearly a full second ahead of the second-place finisher.

Other top-three finishers included Kendra Shehy, who was second behind Boamah-Acheampong in the high jump (5 feet, 0.5 inches), Erin Plews-Ogan, who missed the indoor season due to injury, but returned today and placed third out of 16 in the 1500 meters (5:01.07), Lauren Buyan, who placed third in the 3000 meter steeplechase (12:27.57), and Devin Johns, who threw the javelin 89 feet, 4 inches for third in her event.

Also notable, the trio of Monica Ramstad, Rachelle Herrin, and Allison Chin crossed the finish line fourth, fifth, and sixth in the 5000 meters, respectively, and Wooster's standout All-American swimmer, Kate Hunt, made her first-ever appearance with the track team and placed eighth in the pole vault (8 feet, 6.25 inches).

The men's best performance came via Luke Hutchings-Goetz, as he bested 11 others in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:38.84, which was more than 30 seconds in front of his nearest competitor.

The Scots added a pair of third-place outcomes as well, with Morgan Clark securing third in the 3000 meter steeplechase (10:18.20), and Mamoudou N'Diaye in the high jump (5 feet, 8 inches).

Rounding out the men's top results were a fourth-place finish from Jay Marshall in the pole vault (13 feet, 5.25 inches), and fifth-place honors for Matt Margida in the shot put (45 feet, 1.5 inches) and Albert Darling in the 5000 meters (16:36.42).

Wooster's outdoor season will roll on next weekend at the Oberlin Invitational.
