The College of Wooster's men's and women's track and field teams took fourth and fifth place, respectively, at the Bob Kahn Invitational on Saturday, which was hosted by Oberlin College.

The men scored 119 points, which was not too far off third-place Lake Erie College (127). Oberlin took the top honors on its home turf with 149.5 points.

The Scots had two student-athletes earn individual championships in their respective events, as Kevin DeGroot won the 3000 meter steeplechase in 10:38.55, and Jay Marshall bested six others in the pole vault by clearing 13 feet, 7.35 inches.

Matt Margida nearly joined them with second-place honors in the shot put (44 feet, 8.75 inches), as did Paul Selby in the discus throw with 127 feet even, which was second in a field of nine.

Also noteworthy on the men's side was Mamoudou N'Diaye with his third-place effort in the high jump (5 feet, 8.75 inches), as well as Ben Kingstone, who placed third in the 100 meter dash (11.67), Luke Hutchings-Goetz, who placed fourth out of a large group of runners in the 1500 meters (4:14.87), and Ryan Kish, who was also fourth in the long jump (18 feet, 6 inches).

The women competed without several notable members of their squad and finished with 91.50 points, which was within striking distance of fourth-place Lake Erie (96.50). Heidelberg University captured the team championship (159).

Kathleen Jackson and Kate Hunt were the Scots' two first-place finishers, as Jackson edged out a small group in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 13:23.30, and Hunt tied for the top spot in the pole vault with 9 feet, 0.25 inches. The next best results came via the 4x400 relay team of Ashley Huddson, Edie Anderson, Hilary Coady, and Lauren Buyan, who placed second in 4:15.82.

Other notable results included Jocelyn Lion's third-place effort in the 400 meter hurdles (1:10.62), and Buyan, who crossed the finish line fourth in the 1500 meters in 5:04 flat.
