In their final preparation for the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, The College of Wooster track & field teams took part in the non-scoring Denison Invitational, and a number of individuals recorded notable performances Friday evening at Granville, Ohio, headlined by Abena Boamah-Acheampong resetting her school record in the women's high jump once again.

Wooster, one of seven squads at the meet, combined for six event wins. Boamah-Acheampong, who earlier in the spring cleared a collegiate-best 5 feet, 7.25 inches, raised the bar another notch in achieving the 5 feet, 8 inch mark during a winning effort at Denison. Not only did she break the school record again, but it marked the second-best high jump across NCAA Div. III this spring.

Fellow Scot senior Erin Plews-Ogan also put forth a strong effort on the track, finishing first out of 13 competitors in the 3000 meters via a 10:32.69 time, and the team's other individual winner was Tricia Hall in the 400 meters (1:04.18).

In relay action, the 4x400-meter team of Lauren Buyan, Chelsea Denlinger, Ann Berkow, and Taylor Morgan gave Wooster another victory (4:24.47), while individually, Buyan was the runner-up in the 400 hurdles (1:08.95). Other second-place efforts came courtesy of Amy French in the 100 hurdles (16.54), Veronique Jones in the shot put (35 feet, 1.75 inches), Stephanie McShane in the 200 meters (26.53), and Kristina Reck in the pole vault (9 feet, 0.25 inches).

During the men's meet, the Scots received winning efforts in the field from Jay Marshall in the pole vault (13 feet, 5.25 inches) and Matt Margida in the shot put (46 feet, 4.75 inches).

Margida added a third-place in the discus (131 feet, 4 inches), while on the track, John Lanz, David Brew, and Derrick Marshall were all third in the 400 (51.32), 800 (1:58.27), and 3000 (9:16.40), respectively.

The first part of the NCAC Championships, the decathlon and heptathlon, will take place on Saturday and Sunday at Ohio Wesleyan University.
