After speaking at commencement earlier in the day, College of Wooster senior Erin Plews-Ogan went on to break her own school record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase Monday evening, as she won her signature event at the Ron Althoff Invitational in Delaware, Ohio to better position herself for a bid to the NCAA Div. III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Entering the day, Plews-Ogan was ranked 20th in the nation in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:07.12, which she clocked at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. She reset her own school record, though, by crossing the finish line in 11:04.36, which is likely to bump her up a few spots in the national rankings when they are updated next.

This is important because the top-22 student-athletes in the event will qualify for the NCAA Championships, which take place May 23-25 at La Crosse, Wis.

Also competing Monday was freshman Hilary Coady, who won the 400 meter hurdles in 1:06.01.
