Erin Plews-Ogan placed 17th overall in the prelims of the women's 3000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Div. III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which was just shy of qualifying for Saturday's finals (top-14), but a solid showing for The College of Wooster's distance standout in her first career appearance at the national meet.

There were two heats comprised of 11 student-athletes Thursday evening, and Plews-Ogan took eighth in her heat with a time of 11:05.85, which was about a second behind her school record of 11:04.36. The top-five runners in each heat qualified for the finals, as did the next four best times in both heats combined, for a total of 14 runners. Plews-Ogan finished three places below the cut.

It's been an exciting past couple of weeks for Plews-Ogan, as she earned the highly-prestigious Elite 89 award, was a speaker at Wooster's Commencement, and broke the North Coast Athletic Conference record in her signature event.
