Margida's Fourth-Place All-Ohio Shot Put Finish Earns Senior NCAC Athlete-of-the-Week Accolade
Margida was only men's thrower in the NCAC with a top-five finish
Matt Margida was the only men's thrower from the North Coast Athletic Conference to earn a top-five finish at Saturday's All-Ohio Div. III Championships, and The College of Wooster senior was recognized by the conference office on Monday for his performance with NCAC Athlete-of-the-Week honors for men's field events.
Margida, who was the Fighting Scots' top finisher at the prestigious event, had a mark of 48 feet, 2.75 inches in the shot put, a distance that resulted in a fourth-place showing. The throw was just a hair under his indoor career best of 48 feet, 7.5 inches.
The honor marked Margida's second career NCAC Athlete-of-the-Week accolade, having previously earned the conference's weekly honor on Jan. 26, 2015, following a first-place outing in the shot put, and a then-record-setting heave of 46 feet, 2.75 inches in the weight throw at the NCAC Quad.
Margida and his Scot teammates are back in action at the Kenyon Classic this Saturday.
