Scots Provide Highlights at Shamrock Invitational

The College of Wooster track and field teams spent the past three days in Myrtle Beach, S.C. competing in the non-scoring Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.

The Scots had some notable performances among a huge field of competitors.

On the men's side, Jack Petrecca jumped six feet, four inches in the high jump to finish third.

David Westcott finished third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:18.36, and Brian Lief was 17th in the 800 at 1:59.34.

Kristian Coleman was 17th in the triple jump (42'8"). Spencer Wilson finished 16th in three events - shot put (41'11.5"), discus (131'3") hammer throw (134'4").

For the women, Maya Vasta was a highlight running a 1:09.88 in the 400 hurdles for a top 20 finish. She also finished 36th in the 200 meters at 26.88 seconds.

First-year Marian Overfield was fifth in the 3,000 steeplechase after finishing with a time of 12:17.06.

Akwia Tilton ran 12.71 seconds in the 100 and finished seventh in the long jump at 16'10.75." Alicia McElwee ran a 1:10.65 in the 400.

Kayla Bertholf was eighth in the 800 (2:31.48) and ran a 5:34.25 in the mile. Morgan Kromer scored a 10'11.75" in the pole vault for fifth.

Following this spring break trip, the Scots will host the Wooster Invitational March 29-30.
