Hargrave, Patterson Earn All-NCAC Honors in NCAC Heptathlon and Pentathlon Championships 

The College of Wooster track and field team had a trio of men and women compete in the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Heptathlon and Pentathlon Championships this weekend as an opening to the NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

First-year Daysia Hargrave had quite a debut in the women's pentathlon with a third place finish on Sunday, which was enough to garner her All-NCAC honors. 

Sophomore Davis Patterson finished strong also to be named All-NCAC. His third-place finish at 4,183 points is a new school record in the indoor heptathlon, surpassing the 4,041 set by Jordan Dennis in 2019.

Hargrave scored 2,924 points as DePauw senior Erin Pasch claimed first place with a total of 3,578 points.

Two other Scots took part in the women's pentathlon. Junior Claudia Partridge finished fifth with 2,655 points for a top five spot. Senior Maya Vasta finished eighth of the 11 competitors with 2,496 points.

Hargrave finished third in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.42 seconds. Vasta was fifth in 10.07 seconds and Partridge came in seventh at 10.26 seconds.

Partridge came out on top in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 3.25 inches. Hargrave was not too far behind in third place at four feet, 11.75 inches, and Vasta came in at eighth.

Vasta was the leading Scot in the shot put at 29 feet, 7.25 inches for third. Hargrave and Partridge followed in seventh and ninth, respectively.

Hargrave took third in the long jump at 16 feet, 2.5 inches. Partridge came in sixth (15 feet, 3.5 inches) and Vasta 11th (13 feet, 9.75 inches).

The trio then finished in the middle of the pack in the 800 with Hargrave in sixth (2:40.97), Vasta in seventh (2:50.07) and Partridge in ninth (2:52.60).

In the men's heptathlon, Patterson, first-year Vell Robinson and first-year Hayden Jacoby competed for the Scots. Patterson moved up a pair of places after his performance in the final two events.

The Scots collectively had their best showing in the pole vault. Patterson won the event with a top height of 13 feet, 7.75 inches. Robinson came in third with a height of 11 feet, 8 inches, and Jacoby finished sixth at 11 feet, 4.25 inches.

In the final event, Robinson ran to a second-place showing in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:54.38. He missed out on first by .10 seconds. Jacoby finished 10th in the race and Robinson 13th.

Patterson finished sixth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.63 seconds. Robinson came in ninth (7.66) and Jacoby 14th (8.11).

The three finished in the same positions in the long jump with Patterson reaching a team-best 19 feet, 8 inches.

Patterson took another sixth place in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 7.75 inches. Jacoby threw for 11th (27 feet, 4 inches) and Robinson for 12th (26 feet, 7.25 inches).

Patterson moved up to fifth in the high jump at five feet, 9.75 inches. Robinson came in at 11th (5 feet, 2.5 inches) and Jacoby 13th (4 feet, 11 inches).

On Sunday, Patterson, Robinson and Jacoby started the day finishing 10th, 11th and 12th, respectively in the 60-meter hurdles.

Wabash senior Max Bigler posted 4,338 points to win the men's heptathlon.

Wooster will wrap up the NCAC Championships next weekend at Wittenberg University. Field events start at Noon on Friday.
