Partridge, Garretson Headed to Div. III Championships

Dylan Garretson, Claudia Partridge, College of Wooster track & field NCAA Div. III Track & Field Indoor Qualifiers Release

The College of Wooster's Claudia Partridge and Dylan Garretson are headed to this week's NCAA Div. III Championships, as the Fighting Scots' duo were among the qualifiers announced by the national governing body on Sunday evening.

Partridge is seeded ninth in the high jump, courtesy of a school-record clearance of 5 feet, 6.5 inches at last weekend's North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. The senior won the event at the conference meet. She is scheduled to compete at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 12. Partridge is Wooster's first women's qualifier since alumna Carolyn Webster made the field for the 2018 outdoor championships. Coincidentally, Wooster's last four national qualifiers on the women's side have all been for the high jump.

Garretson is seeded 19th in the pole vault. The sophomore broke Jeff Waugh's 1989 school record by reaching 15 feet, 3 inches in a dual meet against Denison University on January 27. He since upped his record to 15 feet, 8.25 inches at the Bob Shannon Invitational. Garretson is scheduled to compete at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 11. He is Wooster's first men's qualifier since alumnus David Westcott qualified for the 2019 outdoor championships in the steeplechase, and he is the lone male student-athlete from the NCAC competing at this week's championships.

Of note, this is the first time multiple Scots have qualified for the Div. III Championships since the 2015 indoor meet, and this is the first championships Wooster has both genders represented since the 2014 outdoor meet.

This year's championships are taking place at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The top eight finishers in each event will earn All-America honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
