Four Scots Earn All-Region Honors from USTFCCCA

Dylan Garretson, Daysia Hargrave, Claudia Partridge, Davis Patterson 2022 USTFCCCA Div. III Indoor Track & Field All-Region Release

The College of Wooster track & field team earned five all-region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their performances during the indoor track & field season, as announced by the organization on Tuesday. Wooster's honorees were sophomore Dylan Garretson, first-year Daysia Hargrave, senior Claudia Partridge, and sophomore Davis Patterson.

Garretson, a national qualifier in the pole vault, broke Wooster's 33-year-old school record by succeeding in the first five progressions in a January 27 dual meet with North Coast Athletic Conference rival Denison University. The fifth progression, 15 feet, 3 inches, surpassed the 15-feet indoor record set by Jeff Waugh in 1989. Garretson upped his record to 15 feet, 8.25 inches just over a week later at the Bob Shannon Invitational. He also added a second NCAC pole vault title to his award haul this season.

Hargrave earned all-region laurels in the 60-meter hurdles and pentathlon, events where she earned all-conference honors at the NCAC Championships. Hargrave broke Wooster's program record in the hurdles with the third-place time of 9.08 seconds at the NCAC meet, and lowered that to 9.02 seconds at the Ohio Northern University Final Qualifier. She debuted in the pentathlon with the third-place score of 2,924 points.

Partridge, the NCAC high jump champion, broke Wooster's record in the event by successfully clearing 5 feet, 6.5 inches. That mark was good for a top-10 national ranking and a spot in this week's NCAC Championships. Partridge logged a quartet of first-place finishes in the high jump this season.

Patterson broke Wooster's heptathlon record with 4,183 points, and that earned the sophomore All-NCAC honors. Elsewhere, he was part of the Scots' all-conference 4x400 relay at the NCAC Championships.

USTFCCCA All-Region honors are awarded to those who rank in the top-five in an individual event and the top-three in a relay event within each region.
