Hargrave Breaks 40-Year-Old Record as Scots Compete in Myrtle Beach

First-year Daysia Hargrave broke a 40-year-old record as The College of Wooster track and field teams competed at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C. over the last three days.

Hargrave ran a 14.27 in the 100-hurdles to break Darlene Kemp's 1982 school record. It also was good enough for second place in the event.

Hargrave also finished ninth in the long jump at 17 feet, four inches and ninth in the 400 hurdles (1:08.78).

The meet was a non-scoring event as the team took to the outdoors for the first time this season.

Other notables included sophomore Athena Tharenos who was second in the 5,000 meters (18:11.65). Senior Isabelle Hoover was sixth (18:39.40) while first-year Dylan Kretchmar followed in eighth (18:47.50).

Senior Kayla Bertholf finished 12th (19:32.85) as well as 10th in the 10,000 meters with a time of 42:36.52. She also competed in the 3000 steeple and finished sixth (12:41.85).

Kretchmar also had a sixth place showing in the 3,000 meters (11:05.04). Tharenos was ninth in the collegiate one mile (5:17.74).

Drew Patterson was 11th in the high jump (high bar) at just over five feet.

Sophomore Ainsley Wiesner was 17th (102'8") in the javelin, and first-year Juli Fiori placed 14th in the one mile (6:00.16).

First-year Isaiah Kidd placed 13th in the long jump (21'5.5") and fourth in the high jump with the low bar (6 feet).

Drew Robertson was 16th in the 800 (2:03.11) and was followed in 18th place by Mitch Ecklund (2:06.07). 

Davis Patterson placed fifth in the 400 meters (52.57) and sixth in the pole vault (13 feet, 5.75 inches). Joe Shilts was ninth in the 400 hurdles (58.24).

Luke Henke placed 10th in the high jump (high bar) at six feet, two inches. Will Callender was 10th in the 3,000 meters at 9:17.25.

Next, the Scots host the Wooster Invitational to open the month of April.
