Scots Win Seven Events at Bob Kahn

Isabelle Hoover, Wooster track & field OBERLIN, Ohio – The College of Wooster track & field team won seven events at this weekend's non-scoring Bob Kahn Invitational, which was hosted by Oberlin College.

Senior Isabelle Hoover's tape-breaking 36:46.32 in the 10,000 meters marked the Fighting Scots' headliner. For Hoover, the time rates as a career-best, and it is the second-fastest time in program history behind five-time All-American and W Association Hall of Famer Katie Wieferich's 35:08.16. Hoover's time ranks 15th nationally.

Elsewhere, first-year Daysia Hargrave returned to her dominating form in the 100-meter hurdles, and delivered the winning time of 15.64, while sophomore Athena Tharenos' versatility continued to be on display, this time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Tharenos won the event at 11:44.96.

Sophomore Drew Patterson cleared 4 feet, 10.25 inches to win the high jump, and she was part of the Scots' runner-up 4x100 relay that stopped the watch at 51.68. Senior Maya Vasta claimed first in the 200 meters with a time of 26.84, and she too was part of the 4x100, as was first-year Maia Doescher and Hargrave. Vasta had another top-three showing in the 400 meters, coming across third at 1:02.27.

Sophomore Ainsley Wiesner rounded out the top-three showings with a toss of 95 feet, 5 inches in the javelin. First-year Natalie Tanner broke the program record in the hammer at 135 feet.

Junior Luke Henke continued to shine is his specialty, clearing 6 feet, 0.75 inch in the high jump, which was the top mark on the day. Junior Joe Shilts, senior Nick Scherson, sophomore Davis Patterson, and senior Will McMichael posted the winning time of 3:28.34 in the 4x400 relay to round out Wooster's blue-ribbon showings.

Elsewhere, Wooster claimed runner-up status in both hurdle events. In the 110-meter hurdles, junior Justin Jones was the second-place finisher at 17.45, while in the 400, Shilts went 57.86.

First-year Will Callender (10,000 meters, 32:50.21), McMichael (800 meters, 1:58.76), and Scherson (200 meters, 23.04) rounded out the top-three finishers on the men's side.

Next, Wooster is at Denison University for a dual meet on Wednesday, April 13.
