Men’s 4x400 Breaks Program Record as Scots Compete at Baldwin Wallace

Scherson, Patterson The College of Wooster track and field team took a select few athletes to Baldwin Wallace University on Friday to compete in its non-scoring Harrison Dillard Twilight.

The Scots broke a new program record in the men's 4x400 relay. The team of Joe ShiltsDavis PattersonNick Scherson and Will McMichael posted a time of 3:19.50. The previous record was held by the 2001 squad of Brian BarnesJacob JohnsonKonah Duche and Ben Behm.

The men's time on Friday was .003 seconds off from the second-place finish from the University Mount Union. 

McMichael also took first place honors in the 400 meters with a time of 49.28.

Elsewhere, first-year Isaiah Kidd placed fourth in the long jump at 22 feet, 3 inches and fifth in the triple jump, reaching 42 feet, 9.75 inches.

The women had some strong performances as well on Friday. 

Sophomore Athena Tharenos placed third in the 3,000 meter-steeplechase with a time of 11:10.02.

Senior Claudia Partridge was fifth in the high jump at 5 feet, 5.75 inches. Drew Patterson followed in seventh at 5 feet, 3.25 inches.

The Scots will travel to Mount Union on Thursday for the NCAA Final Qualifier before the NCAA Division III Championships running May 26-28.
