Will McMichael ALLIANCE – Select student-athletes of The College of Wooster track and field team got one last opportunity in at the NCAA Final Qualifier hosted by the University of Mount Union on Thursday.

Two on the men's side improved upon their season-bests and prior school-records.

Senior Will McMichael improved upon his school record in the 400 with a first-place finish and a time of 48.11 seconds, which also ties him for 23rd nationally. McMichael's prior best time this year came in at 48.47 seconds.

Dylan Garretson did the same but in the pole vault, besting his prior 15'10" mark with a first place clearing and new record of 16 feet, 1.25 inches. At the time, the mark is seventh best in all of Division III and is the best mark for a sophomore.

Finally, the 4x400 team of Patterson, McMichael, Nick Scherson and Joe Shilts posted a time of 3:23.06 for third in their event.

For the women, two competed in the high jump.

Senior Claudia Partridge reached five feet, 3.25 inches for best on the day. She was a few inches shy of her season best (5'5.75"), which ranks her 21st in the nation.

Sophomore Drew Patterson followed in third with a mark of 5 feet, .25 inches. She was also short of her best jump (5'4.25") of the year, which has her 37th.

Next, the NCAA will soon release its final list of participants in the upcoming Division III Championships held this year in Geneva from May 26-28.
