Garretson Places 16th in Pole Vault at Div. III Championships

Dylan Garretson, Wooster track & field GENEVA, Ohio – The College of Wooster's Dylan Garretson placed 16th in the pole vault at the NCAA Div. III Championships, which took place this weekend at SPIRE Institute.

Garretson, a sophomore, passed on the opening progression of 14 feet, 9 inches and joined the championship field once the bar was raised to 15 feet, 3 inches. He cut it close, needing all three tries to successfully clear the progression, then was unable to successfully clear the bar at 15 feet, 9 inches.

The two-time national qualifier became a four-time North Coast Athletic Conference pole vault champion this spring. He also broke the program's outdoor record and upped it to 16 feet, 1.25 inches at the University of Mount Union Final Qualifier.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Luka Srsic was the national champion in the event at 16 feet, 8.75 inches.
