Scots Honored Collectively, Individually by USTFCCCA

Daysia Hargrave, Claudia Partridge, Athena Tharenos, Wooster Track & Field USTFCCCA Academic Release

The College of Wooster's women's track & field team was a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team for the 2022-23 track & field season, and sophomore Daysia Hargrave, senior Claudia Partridge, and junior Athena Tharenos were awarded USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. Noteworthy, Partridge and Tharenos are now three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic qualifiers.

Hargrave upped her USTFCCCA all-region haul to five after capturing the 100-meter hurdles title at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships with a time of 15.00. She was also the 400-meter hurdles runner-up at the league championships, crossing at 1:06.68. Hargrave vaulted into the all-region picture with a season-best 100-meter hurdles time of 14.69 at Baldwin Wallace University's Harrison Dillard Twilight.

Partridge qualified for the NCAA Div. III Championships for the third time during the indoor season and logged a career-best ninth-place finish after clearing 5 feet, 3.25 inches. The six-time all-region performer cleared an outdoor season-best 5 feet, 5 inches at the Harrison Dillard Twilight and finished just shy of a fourth berth at nationals in the event. Partridge's 3,395 points in the NCAC heptathlon earned her a second all-region citation for the 2023 outdoor season.

Tharenos, a College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District® honoree, took down a decade-old school record with a time of 11:03.59 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAC Championships. The runner-up steeplechase, plus a third-place time of 18:48.28 in the 5,000 meters upped Tharenos' all-conference count to nine. The two-time all-region steeplechaser was the All-Ohio steeplechase champion this spring.

Senior Isabelle Hoover - a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient - senior Morgan Kromer, sophomore Igna Mendez, and junior Ainsley Wiesner joined Tharenos on the CSC Academic All-District® Team earlier this spring. Women's track & field qualified 71 percent of eligible team members to the NCAC Academic Honor Roll and the program led the way among Wooster's teams with 17 honorees.

USTFCCCA All-Academic Team criteria includes a team cumulative GPA of at least 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester or quarter. Individual honorees must have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and rank in the top-50 in an event on TFRRS, the track & field results hub.
