Tharenos Collects Seventh NCAC Weekly Honor

The College of Wooster's Athena Tharenos earned North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors for the seventh time after leading the Fighting Scots' track and field team in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at last week's Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.

Tharenos posted a time of 11:31.41, which ranks fourth nationally and tops within the NCAC this season. The senior won the steeplechase, which featured a mix of NCAA Div. I and Div. III entries.

Elsewhere, Tharenos crossed at 18:35.99 in the 5,000 meters and helped Wooster's 4x400 relay to a time of 4:17.18.

This is Tharenos' first NCAC Athlete of the Week award since April 10, 2023.

Wooster returns to action at the Bob Kahn Invitational, which takes place March 29-30 at Oberlin College.
