COLUMBUS, Ohio – The College of Wooster's Ainsley Wiesner improved her school record in the hammer throw by nearly eight feet at Friday's Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State University.

Wiesner just upped the already-held record to 168 feet, 6 inches at last week's All-Ohio Championships and improved it to 174 feet, 11 inches on try three Friday. On the next attempt, Wiesner went 176 feet, 2 inches and the senior's final throw measured out to 172 feet, 9 inches.

Wiesner currently ranks eighth nationally in the event.

Wooster returns to action at Saturday's Duane Gomez Invitational at Kenyon College.
