Hargrave an All-American in NCAA Div. III Championships Debut
Junior places 11th in the 100-meter hurdles
MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina – Junior Daysia Hargrave earned second-team All-America honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association in her debut appearance at the NCAA Div. III Championships. The Fighting Scots' star hurdler placed 11th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.21.
"Daysia ran a super race," shared head coach Dennis Rice. "It was a great race from the start to the finish. Daysia was very confident and showed a lot of confidence competing at the championship level. She was not intimidated by the competition and achieved great results."
Hargrave, who became Wooster's seventh All-American, and fourth from track and field, this academic year, raced in heat two and was the fifth-place finisher in the group. Her 14.21 was just shy of her school-record time of 14.11, set at Ohio State University's Jesse Owens Track & Field Classic on April 20. It marked Hargrave's fourth time below 14.5 seconds this spring.
Senior Ainsley Wiesner rounds out the Div. III Championships for Wooster in the hammer throw, which takes place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 25.
