Scots Defeat Big Red for Dual Meet Win
Hargrave wins five events to lead women while men win 67-57
GRANVILLE -- The College of Wooster track and field teams swept Denison University in a dual meet in Granville on Thursday. The Wooster women won 74-47, while the men won 67-57.
Senior Daysia Hargrave had quite the night, being a part of five wins – two in the relays and three individually.
The 4x200 team took a close win at 1:51.80 behind the team of Claire Davis, Maia Doescher, Hargrave and Amelia Mitchell. Meanwhile the 4x400 team had it a bit easier, winning with a time of 4:40.91 behind Julianna Fiori, Amy Gabrovsek, Hargrave and Igna Mendez.
Hargrave won the 60 hurdles in 9.44 seconds and the 200 meters in 27.98 seconds. In field events, she took the long jump at 15 feet, five inches.
Mitchell won the high jump in four feet, nine inches, besting teammate Anaya Brady by two inches. Davis won the triple jump at 32 feet, 11 inches.
In distance, Elise Greenwald won the 1 mile in 5:41.41. Mendez took the 400 meters in 1:04.41.
On the men' side, the 4x400 team won with a time of 3:38.79. That team consisted of Liam Regan, Cooper Norwell, Cam Sentieri and Cam Ray.
Meanwhile, the 4x200 team fell just short of first, .48 seconds shy.
Echo Kidd kept on his strong start to the year, winning the long jump in 21 feet, 6.25 inches and the triple jump in 41 feet, eight inches.
In the 1 mile, Drew Robertson (4:27.53) and Will Callender (4:30.16) finished first and second, respectively.
Cam Ray won the 400 meters at 53.36, just .36 ahead of second. Regan won the 60 meters (7.46 seconds) with Sentieri and Elijah Stewart following close behind.
Finally, Essaie Mezmur won the high jump in 6 feet, 0.75 inches.
Next, the Scots will return to Denison to compete at the Bob Shannon Invitational on Feb. 8.
