Hargrave Scores All-NCAC Honor in Pentathlon
Senior now an 11-time All-NCAC performer
Senior Daysia Hargrave earned All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors for the 11th time at Sunday's pentathlon championship at Oberlin College.
Hargrave's 2,985 points were eight off a collegiate-best. She opened with a 9.00 in the 60-meter hurdles, which led the field and marked her second-fastest time of the season. Next, Hargrave cleared 4 feet, 9 inches in the high jump, ranking fourth in the field. The senior went 26 feet, 5.75 inches in the shot put, then reached 15 feet, 10.5 inches in the long jump. Hargrave's long jump was fourth in the field of 15 competitors. Hargrave's day concluded with a 2:38.60 in the 800 meters, which was third among the entries.
Senior Vell Robinson and sophomore Aaron Denis competed in the heptathlon. Robinson's 3,361 points ranked 10th. Denis was 11th with 2,852 points. Robinson cleared 12 feet, 5.5 inches in the pole vault, which was tied for the third-best mark in the field. Robinson's highest point total of 687 came from a 7.58 in the 60-meter dash. Denis went 7.74 in the same event for 637 points, which marked the highest point total in an event for the sophomore. Denis cleared 10 feet, 10 inches and went 3:17.57 for 502 points in the 1,000 meters.
Wooster is back at Oberlin on Friday and Saturday for the NCAC Championships.
