Hargrave Comes Home As Two-Time All-American
Senior earns second team honors in 60 hurdles at NCAA DIII Indoor Championships
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior Daysia Hargrave became a two-time All-American on Friday after finishing 16th in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Nazareth University.
While familiar with the outdoor championships when she claimed All-America honors in the 100-meter hurdles, this was Hargrave's first appearance at the Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, and she left a two-time All-American.
The top 16 competitors earn All-America status and Hargrave, who competed in the third of three heats, did just enough to earn the honor.
In fact, the three North Coast Athletic Conference competitors, Hargrave, Ohio Wesleyan first-year Katherine Dortmund and DePauw sophomore Liberty Scott all finished together in 15th through 17th.
Dortmund and Hargrave each ran to a time of 8.88 seconds, but Dortmund was a bit quicker at 8.872 to Hargrave's 8.878.
Scott then became the one to fall outside of All-America honors, finishing 17th in 8.90 seconds.
Hargrave entered seeded 15th and with a school record time of 8.79 seconds, which she earned during the NCAC Championships. Hargrave also was recently named for the tenth time a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region performer.
Hargrave is Wooster's fourth women's indoor All-American and the second in as many years (Ainsley Wiesner '24, weight throw).
