The College of Wooster women's basketball team got behind 10-0 early on, and never were able to bounce back, as Marietta College cruised to a 93-77 triumph Sunday afternoon in a consolation game at its own Jim Meagle Turkey Shoot at Marietta, Ohio.

Trying to get back into the game, the Scots (1-4) pulled within 13-5 on a Jessica Wingen jumper, and 22-13 on Keshia Butler's steal and layup, but couldn't string together the scoring stretch it needed. Marietta eventually took over with its own 13-4 run that gave it a 17-point (39-22) cushion, and all but sealed the outcome.

Wooster trailed by as much as 20 in the second half, when Suvi Puripattarapan began to get into a groove, as she knocked down a 3-pointer and hit a basket with a free throw, helping the Scots cut their deficit to nine (71-62). That was as close as Wooster got, though, as Marietta continued to increase its lead, and eventually handed Wooster its third setback in a row.

Puripattarapan had a breakout game, recording 15 points and six steals off the bench. Sulzer was also a factor, as she racked up her own career-high (14 points) and added six rebounds. Karly Walker, who was named to the all-tournament team, chipped in 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting.

Marietta was paced by Aleisha Guiler's 22 points and six boards.

The Scots will begin their North Coast Athletic Conference schedule next, as they hosts Hiram College (2-0) Wednesday at 6 p.m.
