WOOSTER, Ohio – Thanks in large part to Samantha Sulzer's 14 points, The College of Wooster turned a sluggish start into a two-point game with 13:57 remaining in regulation, but Allegheny College went on a 14-4 scoring run soon after that sunk the Fighting Scots 65-46 in a North Coast Athletic Conference tilt at Timken Gymnasium.

The Scots (3-20, 1-12 NCAC) trailed 28-20 to start the second half, and eventually fell behind 10 points, before Samantha Sulzer buried a jumper, and then sank a pair of free throws on Wooster's next possession to kick start a Wooster run. Suvi Puripattarapan picked off Allegheny (15-8, 9-4 NCAC) moments later which led to a Jessica Wingen basket, and then Wingen scored again completing an 8-0 scoring run which pulled Wooster within 31-29.

As has been the story at times this season, the Scots then went cold at an inopportune time, allowing Allegheny to rebuild its double-digit lead (45-35) as part of its previously mentioned 14-4 run. Wooster hung around for a bit longer, as Kristen Schwartz scored four-consecutive points to keep the Scots within 10 (49-39), but Allegheny closed the game strong to seal the outcome.

Both teams started off extremely cold in the first half, a combined 0-for-12 shooting effort to be exact, before Jill Gregory made two shots from the charity stripe almost five minutes into the game which put Allegheny up 2-0. The Scots got behind by 11 (16-5), but then went on a 10-3 run, which included a Karley Walker 3-pointer, and made it a four-point game (19-15).

Leading Wooster was Sulzer with 14 points and six rebounds, while Walker added 11 points, six assists, and five boards.

Allegheny got a boost from Erica Restich, who scored a game-high 24 points in 24 minutes off the bench, including a 3-for-5 effort from 3-point range. Allegheny went 9-for-20 from behind the arc on the evening, while Wooster was just 3-for-19.

The Scots will look to pick up a win in their season finale Saturday when they host Ohio Wesleyan University for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
