Karley Walker scored a season-high 17 points, but it wasn't enough to spark The College of Wooster women's basketball team, which shot less than 30 percent from the field in an 81-48 loss to Waynesburg University Friday evening at Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.

The Scots (1-9) struggled with turnovers in the early goings allowing the Yellow Jackets (9-2) to build a quick 6-0 lead. Walker responded by sinking three consecutive 3-pointers during a 3:52 span, inching Wooster within 14-9, but Waynesburg slowly began pulling away at that juncture.

Hannah Hunter piled up 14 points and six assists in the first half, helping Waynesburg race out to a decisive 42-23 advantage at the break. She finished with a game-high 20 points.

As has been the story throughout the season, Wooster was more competitive in the second half, as it turned the ball over less and was only narrowly edged out in rebounding (27-24). At one point, the Scots strung together a 10-2 scoring run that included 3-pointers from Ashley Lindemann, Mallory Band, and Walker.

Walker's 17 points came on 6-of-12 shooting from the field and included a career-high five 3-pointers. She also chipped in four rebounds and three assists. Suvi Puripattarapan was next on the stat sheet with seven points, while Lindemann added five points and three steals.

Wooster will get a fresh start of sorts when it begins the North Coast Athletic Conference portion of its schedule with a trip to Kenyon College Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
