The College of Wooster women's basketball team was held scoreless for nearly eight minutes midway through the first half, allowing Oberlin College to build a double-digit lead it would not relinquish, as the Yeowomen topped the Fighting Scots 58-40 Friday evening in a North Coast Athletic Conference tilt at Oberlin, Ohio.

The Scots (3-16, 2-9 NCAC) outscored the Yeowomen (6-15, 3-9 NCAC) by a 23-21 margin in the second half, but it was too little too late, as Oberlin had already constructed a 20-point cushion (37-17) at the break.

Jessica Wingen and Samantha Sulzer combined for 30 points on nearly 50 percent shooting from the field (13-for-27), while the rest of the Scots were just 2-for-23. Wingen scored 16 points to go along with eight rebounds and six blocks, while Sulzer recorded her third double-double of the season (14 points, 11 rebounds) and added a career-high six steals.

Both teams were strong at the free throw line, as Wooster went 10-for-13 (.769), while Oberlin was 18-of-21 (.857).

The Yeowomen were led by Allison Gannon, who totaled 16 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks.

Wooster will be back in action tomorrow night when it hosts Kenyon College at 7:30 p.m.
