Behind Jessica Wingen's 18 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the field, The College of Wooster women's basketball team shot a season-high 45.1 percent (23-for-51) and never trailed in a dominant 62-46 victory over Geneva College on Friday evening at the Geneva Tournament in Beaver Falls, Pa.

The Scots (6-4) used 3-pointers to jump out to an early 13-4 lead, as Karley Walker made a pair from behind the arc and Sydney Grier added another, but the Golden Tornadoes (1-9) kept their deficit within single-digits until late in the second half.

With just over a minute left before the break, Lauren Hancher pushed Wooster's lead to 10 (30-20) with a lay-up, and then with 10 seconds remaining in the half, Rachel Huxhold splashed a 3-ball that made it 33-20 at the game's midway point.

The Scots overwhelmed Geneva in the second half with a 19-4 scoring run that turned a 14-point lead (43-29) into a 29-point cushion (62-33). Mallory Band chipped in five points during the run, with a 3-pointer and lay-up during a 42-second spurt, and Wingen added six of her 18 then as well.

Geneva closed out the game on a 13-0 scoring run, but it was too little too late, as Wooster still won by 16 – its second-largest margin of victory of the year.

Wingen just missed a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds, and also blocked a season-high five shots. Also noteworthy, Walker reached double-figures in scoring for the seventh time in 10 games with 11 points and six boards, and Huxhold recorded six points and four assists.

Next, Wooster will take on Houghton College during the second day of the Geneva Tournament tomorrow at 2 p.m.
